La Quercia is expanding to Yaletown
(Vancouver, July 17 2012) – Nicholas Gandossi, General Manager of OPUS Vancouver, is pleased to announce a new partnership that will see Adam Pegg and Lucais Syme of Vancouver’s award-winning Northern Italian eatery La Quercia, open a new restaurant concept at the globally recognized OPUS Vancouver.
For their part, Pegg and Syme, see the collaboration an opportunity to expand their culinary repertoire beyond the walls of their acclaimed west side Vancouver trattoria. “We’ve always wanted to work on a larger food program and we were thrilled when this conversation began,” says Pegg with Syme adding: “We’re looking forward to working with a new dining concept in such a vibrant part of the city.”
OPUS Vancouver’s current pop up, Cento Notti, will close on the evening of August 12 for renovations and a new restaurant is scheduled to reopen in early September 2012.

Vancouver Magazine 2011 Restaurant Awards
La Quercia has been the fortunate recipient of awards in the past, but this year we are triply blessed. Not only did we receive the award for Best Casual Italian and Best Informal, but also Restaurant of the Year at the 2011 outing of the Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards.
Here’s what they had to say:
“Is La Quercia a better casual spot than Blue Water is a formal dining room? Indeed it is, said the judges, and honoured La Quercia, with its fine Northern Italian fare, as Restaurant of the Year.”
“La Quercia (Gold) takes down this highly competitive category, nailing the ‘cozy, cheap-and-cheerful, neighbourhood vibe’ and serving up ’some of the best pasta dishes in the city—the agnolotti di Bruno is unforgettable.’”
“Casual rooms are popping up like mushrooms after a rainstorm, but the judges singled out La Quercia (Gold) for its ‘fantastic, family-style approach to Italian. The egg-yolk ravioli is divine, the meat preparations transformative.’”

Some Reviews
We have been very fortunate to receive some glowing reviews from some of Canada’s top restaurant writers. Take a look at what is being said about La Quercia.
“Pegg and Syme’s food (they both cook) speak of Slow Food and Italian regions. It has an artisan feel, especially the pastas. Ingredients are selected for quality and the regular menu is very small — the daily specials, which actually do change daily, make up a lot of the offerings.”
“Mama is impressed. She’s visiting from Toronto. I’ve taken her to La Quercia, one of the most authentic regional Italian restaurants Vancouver has ever seen.”
“Perfect restaurants are rare, but La Quercia comes very close. The front-of-house operation is exceptionally tight, with a great server-to-customer ratio, and the food comes out fast, hot, and of an uncommon quality.”
“The food is the main draw, with near-perfect Northern Italian dishes at accessible price points.”

From the blogosphere

It’s a brave new world. Vancouver is blessed with a large and passionate group of food aficionados. And many bring their passion to the screen, putting words and pictures together to share their dining experience with others. At La Quercia, we have been happy to host some of the best of these new journos, and they have been happy with us, too. Here are some of the reviews we have received.

November 2010 White Truffle Dinner
For our second annual truffle dinner we are celebrating the white tuber with our friends at Batasiolo winery in Piedmonte, Italy. We are fortunate to have had the chance to meet the great people of Batasiolo when we were last in Piedmonte in July. The hospitality was incredible and the wines absolutely fantastic.
Our Truffle dinner will be held on Friday, November 5th. In similar fashion to our dinner last year we will be paring great wines with each truffle laden dish. We are expecting to serve at least 5 courses, and as many wines. The cost will be $300.00 per person plus tax. Looking forward to seeing you there!
